The Fort St. John Child Development Centre believes in the potential of all children and is dedicated to the individuals and families we serve.
The Child Development Centre is a non-profit organization founded in 1973 by group of concerned families requiring extra supports for their children.
Advocated provincially, they were able to recruit therapists to the region to provide services. Since its inception the centre has grown into a hub for children, youth, and family services, boasting over 20,000 square feet of space in which a wide variety of programming is provided.

Our building offers a welcoming environment with inclusive and comprehensive services to support children, youth, and families in our region. Our premises include therapy rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, sensory spaces, and a fully accessible gymnasium.
There are three inclusive preschool/daycare classrooms with large creative spaces to support developmental growth including outdoor playgrounds to allow children to explore, play, and socialize. An accessible kitchen and meeting space supports our life skills and respite program. The facility also offers a family drop-in location, providing a comfortable and welcoming area for families to connect, seek support, and engage in community programming.
Additionally, the centre provides space for visiting clinicians from organizations such as Sunny Hill Health Centre, BC Children's Hospital, Northern Health, and BC Early Hearing Program, ensuring families have access to specialized care

It is with the amazing support of individuals, parents/caregivers, volunteers, businesses and other stakeholders, that the CDC has been able to grow from its humble beginnings into the thriving organization it is today.
Make a difference. Support the CDC.
