Physiotherapy

The Physiotherapist (PT) at the CDC provides services for children and their families from birth to school-age entry.

About physiotherapy

The primary goal of physiotherapy is to assess and help to improve a child’s development of movement, and posture. Together with the child and the child’s family or caregivers, the physiotherapist will determine goals and strategies that address the child’s needs and abilities.

  • Muscle strength, balance, and tone
  • Range of motion of joints
  • Quality of movement
  • Exercise tolerance
  • Motor and reflex development
  • Functional abilities
  • Pain (type, location, extent)

 

How to access the program.

Referrals are accepted from parents/guardians, doctors, nurses, social workers, other CDC team members, people that are concerned about a child’s development, or other organizations. Referrals should be made only with the parent or guardian’s knowledge and consent.
